The Southern University and A&M College Center for Social Research and The Southern University Office of Research and Strategic Initiatives were awarded funding by the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) to provide funding to the community for the purpose of achieving entrepreneurship, home ownership and educational attainment. The Office of Research and Strategic Initiatives will host the DCFS TANF Micro-Enterprise (MED) Program, while collaborating with its sister campuses, Southern University Shreveport (SUSLA) and Southern University New Orleans (SUNO). Various resources of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in Louisiana will be leveraged as assistance while contributing to the growth of TANF eligible participants. Prospective entrepreneurs with income levels within or below 200 percent of the federal poverty guideline (hereafter referred to as TANF eligible clients) and interested in starting a business may apply by calling (225) 771-4951
