The Small Business Administration’s (SBA) 8(a) Business Development Program was created to help small, disadvantaged businesses compete in the American economy and access the federal procurement market. During this workshop, Information will be presented on 8(a) eligibility criteria, GLS Login, the application process, completing and submitting the application, and how the 8(a) program works. We will also discuss System for Award Management (SAM) and Dynamic Small Business Search (DSBS) registration and provide general information on doing business with the federal government. Detailed information will be provided on: the primary purpose of the Section 8(a) Program (business development); eligibility criteria; length of time in business requirement; how the business development and contracting aspects of the program work; the firm's responsibility as an 8(a) Program participant; electronic application process; reporting requirements; the importance of updating your SAM registration; and the DSBS supplemental profile. Additionally, we will review the application forms that must be submitted. Computers will be available to complete processes on site. This workshop will review other SBA certifications such as DBE, WBE, MBE, Hubzone, WOSB/EDWOSB, SDVOSBC and others.
