It is important for small businesses to understand the rules and laws of Human Resource in the workplace. At the end of this Human Resource Boot camp series, each participant will have a better understanding of HR rules and policies that can be implemented to avoid costly fines and lawsuits. The following topics will be covered: Human Resources 101, Attracting and Retaining Top Employees, and Preventing Sexual Harassment in the Workplace. Human Resources 101 In this session we will cover the importance of having a human resources department or representative. We will discuss the responsibilities of a human resources department including recruiting, hiring, payroll, performance management, employee relations, disciplinary action, and ethics. By the end of this session you will have a basic understanding of human resources operations, how it adds value and protects your company from potential risk. Human Resource Boot Camp - Attracting and Retaining Top Employees In this session we will explore the following:  Basics of recruiting qualified employees  The importance of the role managers play, no matter what the level of responsibility  Explore alternative options for filling positions (social media and other platforms)  Prepare attractive and honest recruitment strategies  Retention strategies Human Resource Boot Camp - Preventing Sexual Harassment in the Workplace How would you respond to a sexual harassment complaint? Are you prepared to deal with the investigative process? Are you at a high risk? Do you have a formal policy in place? In this session we will cover the different types of sexual harassment, what is and what is not sexual harassment, signs of sexual harassment, and the role and responsibilities of managers’ vs employees.
