Intelligent Designs and Bedbugs

Intelligent Designs is an interior design service owned and operated by Sandy McMillan, a license interior designer with a degree from LSU. Sandy's experience and credentials helped her establish a company that is well respected and successful. Over time, Sandy began to recognize that many customers were ready to buy immediately and they were frustrated by a lack of choice in quality home furnishings and accessories for children. From this opportunity, the retail store 'bedbugs' was started as a companion business for the design service.

SBDC Services Provided: General Business Practices, Financial Analysis, Inventory Analysis.

Sandy talked with the Louisiana Tech SBDC, applied for the SEBD program, became certified, and met with a counselor to determine what course of action to pursue. The primary concern involved needing an accurate, timely and convenient method of establishing inventory levels.

Success: Created 1 full-time job and 4 part-time jobs.
